U.S. Rep. Rose Announces House Subcommittee Field Hearing in Tennessee

Washington, DC—Today, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-06) announced that the U.S. House of Representatives House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a subcommittee field hearing in Tennessee titled “Victims of Regulatory Overreach: How the SEC’s Climate Disclosure Rule Will Harm Americans.”

The hearing will examine the Securities and Exchange Commission’s finalized climate disclosure rule and its impact on Americans. This will be the first official committee hearing since the SEC updated its proposed rule to remove what is known as Scope-3 emissions following Rep. Rose’s advocacy to protect farmers from this cumbersome and unworkable reporting process.

Members of the press are invited and encouraged to attend. There will be open press availability to directly ask the Members of the committee questions immediately following the hearing.

U.S. Rep. John Rose released the following statement:

“The SEC’s finalized climate disclosure rule will have a tremendous negative impact on Tennessee-based businesses and the economy,” said Rep. Rose. “Bringing an official U.S. House subcommittee hearing to Tennessee will allow vital stakeholders to share their voices on this damaging proposal by the SEC. I am excited to welcome subcommittee Chairman Huizenga and the other Members of Congress on the Financial Services Committee in attendance to Tennessee as we continue our important committee work examining the Biden Administration’s regulatory overreach and abuse.”
