KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (February 21, 2024) – On the latest episode of Tennessee Talks, Tony Vitello, Head Coach of the Tennessee Volunteers joins Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02) to discuss what he looks for when recruiting players, taking the Volunteers to Omaha for the College World Series, and what attracted him to the University of Tennessee.
“Coach Vitello has been a blessing for this baseball program and really knows the game,” said Rep. Burchett. “He's got a good group this year and I'm looking forward to watching them play in Omaha."
Coach Vitello accepted the head coaching job at the University of Tennessee in 2017 and has taken the Vols to four NCAA regionals, three NCAA super regionals, and two trips to Omaha for the College World Series. In 2022, the Volunteers were ranked #1 for the first time in program history. Vitello also stands out as a two-time National Coach of the Year since taking over the head job at UT.
