State Rep. Greg Vital helps secure $1.28 million grant for Collegedale Municipal Airport

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Greg Vital, R-Harrison, today announced that $1.28 million in state funds have been secured to expand the Collegedale Municipal Airport and support future economic growth.

The grant, provided by the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Aeronautics Economic Development Fund, will be used to build a new 12,000-square-foot facility capable of storing three mid-sized jet aircraft. The project will also include an apron and parking area as well as an adjoining taxiway easement.

“The Collegedale Municipal Airport is an important asset to our community,” Vital said. “This expansion will bring new jobs and additional tax revenue to the area, which will benefit the local economy. I appreciate everyone involved in this project, including TDOT’s partnership in helping us secure this investment for the airport and east Hamilton County.”

The project is expected to create 48 new jobs by 2026.

Established in 1965, Collegedale Municipal Airport’s main operations include flight training, aircraft maintenance and sport aviation. The airport also accommodates various business, corporate and charter operations.
