Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss receives posthumous Congressional Gold Medal

WASHINGTON, D.C., (Sept. 10th, 2024) – Today, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, hosted a Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to honor the lives of the 13 American servicemembers who were tragically killed in the Kabul Airport terrorist attack that occurred on August 26, 2021 during the final days of the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Rep. Burchett was in attendance with other lawmakers from both chambers of Congress.

“I'm reminded every day when I drive home on the Ryan C. Knauss Memorial Highway just how deep this thing goes. This administration was focused on optics instead of taking proper security measures and 13 Americans were killed. Ryan had his whole life in front of him and it was taken due to incompetence from the Biden-Harris administration”, said Rep. Burchett.
