Speaker Pro Tempore Pat Marsh secures $10K for the Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Speaker Pro Tempore Pat Marsh, R-Shelbyville, has secured $10,500 in state funding to help care and maintain the Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Bell Buckle.

The Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial was created to honor the men and women of Tennessee that died in the line of duty.

“This memorial stands as a place where citizens and other firefighters can pause and reflect on the heroic efforts of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect their neighbor,” Marsh said. “This funding is a small way we can ensure the memorial is properly maintained and will remain sacred ground.”

Over the weekend, more than 200 firefighters, 11 from Tennessee, were honored during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Maryland. Thousands of people attend the annual event to pay tribute to all firefighters who died the previous year.

“I’m grateful for the first responders who continually put their lives on the line to serve their communities and keep us safe. Thank you to my fellow members of the General Assembly for their support in continuing to honor our fallen heroes,” Marsh said.

The appropriated funds are part of a $52.8 billion zero-debt balanced budget passed by the General Assembly in April. Republican priorities included making significant investments in health care, public safety, education and rural economic development.

Pat Marsh represents District 62 which includes Bedford, Moore and part of Lincoln Counties. He serves as the Chairman of the Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Subcommittee. He also serves as a member of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, Calendar & Rules Committee, Commerce Committee, Government Operations Committee, Transportation Committee, Ethics Committee, Joint Education, Health and General Welfare Committee, Business & Utilities Subcommittee and the Transportation Subcommittee.
