Rep. Ogles Introduces The Go Woke, Go Broke Act

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) introduced the Go Woke, Go Broke Act, which would eliminate the Treasury Department’s grotesque Advisory Committee on Racial Equity and prevent the Treasury from re-establishing a similar committee moving forward.

“Right now, hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being spent by the Treasury Department to promote the Biden Administration’s exclusionary and racist DEI ideology. The President is so focused on pitting people against each other on the basis of race, he has turned a blind eye to the failure of woke businesses and banks in the private sector,” said Congressman Ogles.“My legislation would eliminate the ridiculous 25-member committee on ‘racial equity’ that currently exists in the Treasury Department. Americans deserve an Executive focused on enacting sound fiscal policy, not diversity quotas.”

"Woke policies are ruining American institutions, destroying efficiency, and eroding capital. These so-called DEI initiatives do not help the communities they claim to serve; instead, they overburden the federal government with useless regulations and red tape. Woke policies divide Americans on the basis of immutable characteristics like race and sex.  They are antithetical to our Nation's fundamental values. I'm proud to support Andy's Go Woke Go Broke legislation as a key piece of RSC's anti-woke initiative." - Rep. Kevin Hern (OK-01), Republican Study Committee Chairman

“The Treasury Department plays an integral role in our financial markets by setting economic and fiscal policy priorities. Unfortunately, the creation of Treasury’s woke racial equity committee will steer the department toward more biased political decision-making,” said Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform. “Rep. Andy Ogles’ Go Woke, Go Broke Act rightly abolishes this committee and ensures no similar committee can be reestablished. Lawmakers should support and swiftly pass this legislation.” - Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform

Instead of dealing with rampant inflation, Biden’s Treasury Department is putting the agenda of far-left activists first. CPAC: The Conservative Political Action Coalition thanks Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-5) for bringing forward ‘The Go Woke, Go Broke Act,’ to ensure the Treasury Department no longer wastes our tax dollars to pursue woke objectives. – Matt Schlapp, CPAC Chairman
