Rep. Burchett statement on vote against minibus

WASHINGTON, D.C., (March 6, 2024) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement on his vote against the $460 billion minibus to fund part of the federal government for fiscal year 2024.

“I voted against this minibus because it spends even more than we spent last year," said Rep. Burchett. "I understand Speaker Johnson is in a tough spot as he's trying to negotiate these bills with the Democrats, but I can't vote to spend that much of the American people's money in good conscience."

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 will fund parts of the government related to:

  • Agriculture, Rural Development and the Food and Drug Administration
  • Commerce, Justice and Science
  • Energy and Water Development
  • Interior
  • Military Construction and Veterans Affairs
  • Transportation, Housing and Urban Development

The government funding package passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 339-85.
