Rep. Burchett statement on Trump shooting, calls for Oversight hearing on Monday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., (July 13, 2024) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) released a statement in reaction to the shooting of President Trump earlier today.

“Everyone please pray for President Trump. Pray for God to put his healing hands on him and everyone else who was hurt.”

Following the news the shooter was able to climb onto a nearby rooftop with a rifle without being stopped by the Secret Service, Rep. Burchett released the following statement:

“Heads ought to roll over this.”

Following the news that Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (KY-01) will be setting up a hearing for the Oversight Committee with the head of the U.S. Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle, Rep. Burchett released the following statement:

“I have already spoken with Chairman Comer and called him to hold this hearing on Monday. Screw the convention, screw the rules, let’s get this done asap.”
