Rep. Burchett reintroduces the Unmasking Antifa Act

WASHINGTON, D.C., (May 6, 2024) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) reintroduced the Unmasking Antifa Act, which seeks to punish, with fines and/or imprisonment for up to 15 years, any person wearing a mask or disguise while committing a crime, including threatening or intimidating another individual exercising their constitutional rights or privileges.

“We seen so many criminals every day committing crimes in broad daylight while wearing masks to hide their identities. These cowards wouldn’t act the way they do if the whole world could see their faces,” said Rep. Tim Burchett. “We need to crack down on low-life thugs who think they can get away with breaking the law just because they put some cloth over their faces.”

The bill would also add an additional two years of jail time to anyone who destroys buildings or property within special maritime and territorial jurisdiction while wearing a disguise.
