KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 4, 2024) – U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Representative Julia Brownley (CA-26) launched the bipartisan Compost Caucus in the House of Representatives.
"This is something that can bring members on both sides of the aisle together," said Rep. Burchett. "There's a lot of good things that can be done when it comes to composting and recycling, and launching this caucus this is a good first step to get members working on it together."
The Composting Caucus will serve as an informal group of members dedicated to supporting efforts to advance compost utilization, compost manufacturing, and organics recycling, collection, and education programs that lead to composting.
The caucus was officially launched when Reps. Burchett and Brownley wrote a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Administration to register the Compost Caucus as Congressional Member Organization for the 118th Congress.
