Ogles, Davidson Introduce Bill To Block Entry Of Malign Actors To U.S. Ahead Of Iranian President’S Visit

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) introduced the Blocking the Entry of Malign Actors Act, along with co-lead Congressman Warren Davidson (OH-08). The legislation would amend the Foreign Relations Authorization Act for Fiscal Years 1990 and 1991, expanding the President’s authority to deny a foreign national’s admission to the United States as a representative to the United Nations.

“The Biden Administration has failed the American People in negotiating the United States’ relationship with Iran. The tumultuous history between Americans and the Iranians has kept foreign relations tense, yet President Biden intends to allow the Iranian President - a criminal sanctioned under US law and responsible for the senseless murder of thousands of innocents - to attend and speak at the UN’s General Assembly meeting. Raisi is exactly the type of foreign national who should be refused entry to the United States for reasons of national security. His past is filled with support for state-sponsored terrorism and disregard for human rights, and that is the last person we should be allowing to enter the United States,” said Rep. Ogles.

“Since day one in office, President Biden has been weak on Iran. We saw the Biden administration recently release a ransom payment of $6 billion to Iran, a deal that further encourages bad behavior from the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The United States shouldn’t allow the Iranian President access to the UN General Assembly meeting this week,” said Rep. Davidson.
