WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) and fellow Reps. Aaron Bean (FL-04), Neil Dunn (FL-02), and Vern Buchanan (FL-16) introduced the Americans First Disaster Relief Act. The legislation would appropriate an additional $10 billion to FEMA for disaster relief. Instead of new spending, the bill would offset the $10 billion by rescinding funding for IRS agents provided through the Inflation “Reduction” Act of 2022. Additionally, the legislation prohibits FEMA from using the re-allocated disaster relief funding to provide any benefit to any alien not lawfully present in the United States.
“Americans have been put last at every level by the Biden-Harris Administration. This Administration’s lackluster response to the devastation left behind by hurricanes Helene and Milton is only the latest in a string of America Last policies. Taxpayer dollars continue to be sent by the hundreds of billions to foreign countries and to fund increased audits on Middle America by a weaponized IRS, leaving little to nothing to care for the Americans who foot the bill,” said Congressman Ogles. “That’s why I have introduced the Americans First Disaster Relief Act, which would rescind funding for additional IRS agents in the so-called Inflation “Reduction” Act of 2022 and reallocate $10 billion to FEMA disaster relief.”
“Floridians will not soon forget this hurricane season as the devastation across the southeast is simply unimaginable. I’m pleased to provide additional resources for the Disaster Relief Fund to help those impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. I am focused on ensuring federal assistance helps families, small business owners, and communities receive support in the aftermath of these storms, and ensure the funds are utilized where they are needed most—actual disaster relief,” said Congressman Bean.
Cosponsors (3): Reps. Neil Dunn (FL-02), Aaron Bean (FL-04), and Vern Buchanan (FL-16).
