Congressman Fleischmann Announces Winner of Annual Congressional App Challenge

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) announced the winner of Tennessee’s Third Congressional District’s annual Congressional App Challenge. This yearly competition allows middle and high school students interested in STEM, computer science, and coding to submit their apps to be judged by an expert panel.

Emily English, a senior at East Hamilton High School, is the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for Tennessee’s Third Congressional District. Emily’s app is called “Sustainable Steppers,” and according to Emily, it “aims to introduce and educate the issues of climate change to its users, in addition to providing ways they can have an impact in their day-to-day lives.”

“Getting the next generation of Tennesseans involved in STEM, computer science, and coding is critical for our state to remain on the cutting edge of innovation. I am proud to see Emily English use her skillset to help others and the environment!” said Rep. Fleischmann.
