KNOXVILLE, Tenn., (June 7, 2024) – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) reintroduced legislation to amend federal highway safety requirements.

The Trailer Safety Improvement Act (H.R. 6915) would amend federal highway safety program requirements to include public education on the proper and safe usage of light- and medium-duty trailers, including required safety equipment and preventative maintenance for safety.

“I'm pleased to work with the trailer manufacturers to develop safe-use practices for the consumers and operators” said Rep. Burchett. “This is bipartisan legislation would keep our roads and highways safe for everyone and I'd like to thank my colleague Rep. Joe Garamendi (CA-08) for working with me on getting this bill introduced."
