Cheatle Resigns Day After Ogles Leads Letter To Force Her Removal

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Andy Ogles (TN-05) sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson regarding U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Director Kimberly Cheatle’s concerning response to the attempted assassination of President Donald J. Trump. Following her testimony before the House Committee on Oversight Monday morning, Congressman Ogles implored Speaker Johnson to take up legislation to force Director Cheatle’s removal from her post.

"The way Director Cheatle has responded to the attempted assassination of President Trump is unacceptable. When testifying before my colleagues on the House Oversight Committee, she did little but obfuscate and admit incompetence,” said Congressman Ogles. “After 29 years on the job, Director Cheatle admitted that under her leadership, the Secret Service failed to provide President Trump with the same level of protection she would have ensured for President Biden. This blatant malice towards President Trump is egregious and should upset every single American. I am relieved that Director Cheatle has elected to resign as of this morning. Very few things bring about true bipartisanship in politics these days, but one thing we can all agree on is the unequivocal protection of our presidents
