Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03), Chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations, voted to pass the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Rep. Fleischmann released the following statement applauding the passage of the FY25 NDAA and for the critical investments the NDAA makes in America’s nuclear security. As Chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations, Chairman Fleischmann is the leading advocate in Congress for strengthening and modernizing America’s nuclear triad and infrastructure.
“The Fiscal Year 2025 NDAA is an essential bill that makes critical investments in our military, troops, and, most importantly, our nation’s nuclear deterrent and infrastructure, which are all of the highest priority for the safety and security of the United States and the entire free world. There is no denying the fact that Communist China, Russia, and their proxies are heavily investing in their nuclear arsenals and militaries with the intent of spreading their malign influence throughout the world. Sadly, because of the weakness of the Biden-Harris Administration, we’ve seen Russia invade the sovereign country of Ukraine and threaten the world with the use of a tactical nuclear weapon, and Communist China continues to threaten the sovereignty of Taiwan and the entire Asia-Pacific region. As the enemies of freedom continue to threaten the world, the United States of America must not fall behind in our military capabilities to keep not only our nation free and safe, but also the entire free world,” said Chairman Fleischmann.
“The FY25 NDAA restores military lethality by investing in state-of-the-art weaponry and military systems while removing Biden’s and Harris’ woke policies that have been forced on our servicemen and women, gives our troops a must needed and deserved pay raise, cuts unnecessary spending; saving taxpayers billions, and, most importantly, makes essential upgrades to America’s nuclear deterrent and infrastructure that are critical for our nation to not fall behind China and Russia. As Chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations, one of my highest priorities has been to modernize and invest in our nuclear deterrent so the United States and our allies will never be able to be threatened by our adversaries with nuclear supremacy. We can never allow Russia or Communist China to replace the United States of America as the global nuclear superpower, and the FY25 NDAA ensures this will not happen.”
“Specifically, as Chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations, I am pleased that the FY25 NDAA:
- Fully funds modernization of America’s nuclear triad, as well as the infrastructure and nuclear command, control, and communications that support our nuclear deterrent.
- Fully supports plutonium pit production at the Savannah River Site and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
- Fully funds the construction and procurement of new Columbia class ballistic missile submarines and support infrastructure.
- Prohibits the Biden Administration from admitting Chinese, Russian, Iranian, and North Korean nationals to enter nuclear laboratories and related facilities.
“We live in a dangerous world. Every American has seen the global geopolitical situation deteriorate over the last four years due to our adversaries’ perceived weakness of the United States under Joe Biden’s and Kamala Harris’ weak leadership. As we turn the page on the last four years, we must do everything in our power to strengthen and revitalize our military. I strongly applaud my colleagues in the House for passing the FY25 NDAA and urge the Senate to quickly follow the House’s lead and pass the NDAA so we can begin to make America Strong Again and reassert America’s global military leadership.”
